Kathy Bizarth is in her 33rd year of teaching and her 22nd year as director of choral music activities and Fine Arts Chair at Newnan High School, Newnan, Georgia. Prior to assuming her current position, she served as choral director for Paulding County High School, Dallas, Georgia; J.B. Pennington High School, Blountsville, Alabama; and as choral specialist in Telfair County, McRae, Georgia. Ms. Bizarth received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama and has completed graduate work from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to often being called upon to serve as a choral music clinician/conductor and adjudicator throughout the states of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas, she has also served as District Chairperson for the Georgia Music Educators Association, as All State Organizer, State Choral Chairperson, and on the Executive Board in the capacity of Second Vice President and most recently as First Vice President for Performance Evaluations. She is presently serving as co- state advisor for the Future Music Educators for the Georgia Music Educators Association. She has also served the American Choral Directors Association as Southern Division High School Choir Repertory and Standards Chair and as organizing chair for the Charleston Southern Division High School Honor Chorus. She is presently state secretary for the Georgia division of the American Choral Directors Association.
During her tenure in the state of Alabama, Ms. Bizarth was very active in the Alabama Vocal Association and served on the governing board. In 1996, Jacksonville State University Choral Department honored Ms. Bizarth as Outstanding Choral Alumni of the Year. She is also included in the 1998-99 Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Most recently, Ms. Bizarth is active as a member of the Spivey Hall Education Committee, and is the founding director of the Masterworks Chorale Community Chorus of Newnan, Georgia.
Professional affiliations include the Georgia Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association, Music Educators National Convention, Delta Omicron Professional Music Fraternity, Alpha Delta Kappa Professional Honorary Teacher’s Fraternity and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.
Choirs under the direction of Ms. Bizarth constantly receive superior ratings at Performance Evaluation. There are high numbers of students chosen for local and national honor choir and for all state participation. During Ms. Bizarth’s tenure, choirs from Newnan High School have sung at the Southern Division Convention of the American Choral Directors Association, in Savannah, Georgia; the American Choral Directors Association National Convention in San Antonio, Texas; the Georgia Music Educators Association State Conferences; represented the state of Georgia at the Celebration of 50 Years of World Liberation, in Washington, D.C.; represented the state of Georgia in the Youth Chorale in Carnegie Hall; sang for the 1988 Democratic Convention held in Atlanta and have won various Literary Meet competitions.
The choirs have also been very active in other state and local civic performances.
Ms. Bizarth serves Newnan First United Methodist Church as Associate Director of Music
David Kinrade is the Minister of Music and Organist for the First United Methodist Church in Newnan. He has served in this capacity for twenty-three years. He oversees the music ministry of the church, which includes ten choirs. David received his Bachelor of Music Degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, and his Master of Music Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. He has sung in many choral ensembles, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus with Robert Shaw, and the International Church Music Festival Choir with David Willcocks. David has accompanied the Masterworks Chorale since its inception. He also accompanies the choirs of Newnan High School and their spring musical. David is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and is the treasurer for the Atlanta Chapter of the Choristers Guild. He is also a member of the Newnan Kiwanis Club. He is married to Joan, a patient rep/chaplain at Newnan Hospital and has two daughters, Emily, 16, and Rachel 14.
